ITE stands for self-made life (Itse Tehty Elämä). The ITE-Aulis Home Museum is an all-encompassing work of art, exuding the spirit of the forest, ingenuity, hard work and creativity. You can find paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, poems, caricatures, stonework and a variety of collections on display from the 1950s to the present day.
There are photo diaries created during several decades that document the life and local history of a smallholder. They make up an interesting and culture historically valuable body. Jalkanen’s versatile artistic production also exposes the difficult points and inner experiences of his life in a touching and beautiful way.
ITE-Aulis Association runs the ITE-Aulis Home Museum.
